General right of access to information

Documents drawn up by and held by the authorities are public unless they are ordered to be kept secret by law. The publicity of documents is provided for in the Act on the Openness of Government Activities. Everyone has the right to be informed of any public official document, regardless of whether or not they are an interested party in the matter.

If the information request involves a large quantity of data or is otherwise laborious, we will charge a fee for fulfilling it. If your request for information will be subject to a fee, we will let you know before fulfilling your request.

National Prosecution Authority Finland charges the fee in accordance with the Decree of the Ministry of Justice on Fees Charged for Performances of the Courts and Certain Judicial Authorities in 2025–2027. (The decree is available on Finlex in Finnish and Swedish.)
